a few words about us
Waldhuegelland is truly a small and very selective "kennel". In fact all our dogs are house dogs, first and foremost – and always – our treasured friends. Breedings are very carefully considered and many miles have been flown and driven to have our females introduced to the best male for a given liaison.
I have had only 14 litters in 16 years, in order to dedicate the great amount of time and energy to each litter, including follow-up with the puppies' new families, which I feel is absolutely necessary. I am delighted to say that even with so few litters, over the years twelve families have come back for another pup to join them, and two of those have come back for a third, with one having taken a fourth!
I use only the "West German show lines" which I feel offer the best option for family pets that are lovely to behold, intelligent and sweet to work with, sound and altogether a joy to have in one's family. They are clever dogs and do need plenty of exercise and "a job to do" – which can be ball play or other play. They are happy to have responsibilities as well; my dogs help out with my hens.
I am a long-standing member of the CKC and the GSSCC (German Shepherd Schutzhund Club of Canada). My dogs have shown successfully in conformation (German and CKC), in herding (CKC and AHBA), in obedience (CKC) and in Rally (CKC); as well as obtaining SV endurance titles.
A wonderful aspect of this careful breeding effort has been the many delightful people I have met, now my cherished friends. Thank you to each and every one for giving such loving homes to our Waldhuegelland "babies", and for staying in touch!
